What Love is This?

"As the Father hath loves me, so have I loved you. Continue ye in my love" (John 15:9)

The Father's love drove Jesus into a wilderness--after an inglorious birth. It led Him to cursing mobs and misunderstanding co-workers. It took Him to Jerusalem as a hero, then dropped Him as an imposter. It took Him before kings and rulers to be mocked and ridiculed as a pretender. This love left Him bleeding and dying on a cross. It drove Him to the despair of loneliness and brass heavens. This love left Him as a corpse in a sealed tomb. What kind of love is this? Has Jesus really offered us the same kind of love--over the same path? Yes, but here is love: "The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies."
